  • Know that you are wading into not great territory and that the person you’re seeking to know better may be put off further by your advances. In many cases, you will almost certainly be far from the first person to attempt this. This does not mean that you should necessarily try harder or differently; it means this person may be wary of advances in general (and for good reason; see the rest of this site.)
  • If you rarely interact with this person, know that building a rapport online is likely an important first step. Don’t start in the DMs; move into the DMs, respectfully, after you’ve built up rapport and trust and transparency.
